The Oyster

there are scenes

I sleep between

late at night my oyster heart

turns affliction in to art

and in my dreams I use it

making little bits of music

watch them grow

just like a pearl

the earth was white

until the lord picked up that crumb

between his finger and his thumb

and paint it blue and green

all blue and green except the ends

where it just snows

on and on and on and on and on
