A Madrasta formed in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 2007 as a trio. They released their debut album in 2011, which included the track "Víveme." That song became their most recognizable work, a ballad that found an audience in Mexico.

The group consisted of Diana Reyes on vocals, Isaac Salcedo on guitar and songwriting, and Cristian Guerrero on drums. Their music drew from pop, rock, and some traditional Mexican elements. After their debut, they put out another album called "Renacer" in 2013.
