A Fortaleza quartet that moved from straightforward pop toward more reflective material across three albums.
For a quick sense of their range, listen to 'Beautiful Soul' and 'A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes.' They're different sides of the same band.
They worked in that space between pop and rock with Brazilian touches, which gave songs like 'Beautiful Soul' a particular texture. Their stage presence and lyrics drew mixed reactions as they became more visible, and you can hear that tension in their recordings. The shift from their first album's 'Lavanda Azul (Maravilha)' to the more reflective material on Oxigênio shows a band figuring out its voice.
A Nova Cinderela formed in Fortaleza with Bruno Be, Priscila Senna, Diogo Melim, and Rodrigo Melim. They put out their first album in 2010, which included the track 'Lavanda Azul (Maravilha).' Their third album, Oxigênio, arrived in 2016.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
