A Outra Margem formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2004 as a quartet with Joao Gomes on vocals and guitar, Renato Corrêa on bass, Pedro Fonseca on guitar, and Gustavo Ribeiro on drums. They started playing local bars and clubs around that time.
Their 2009 debut album "Quanto Eu Gosto de Você" brought them wider attention, particularly through the ballad "Vim Correndo Pra Dizer Que Eu Te Amo." That song became one of their most recognizable tracks, along with others like "Vou Estar Aqui" and "O Amor É Simples."
Renato Corrêa left the band in 2012, and Junior Costa joined on bass. The group continued performing and recording after that lineup change.
