A Raiva formed in 2003 when guitarist Rafael Malenotti, drummer Fernando Morgado, and bassist Wagner Contreiras came together after another Brazilian rock project called Oitão. They were joined by vocalist Marcos "Buga" Brum, whose delivery became central to their sound.
The band's 2006 album "Além Do Corpo" gave them their breakthrough track of the same name. That song, along with others like "Furia e Raiva" and "Tecnologia Obscura," helped define their place in Brazilian rock during the 2000s.
They released four studio albums between 2004 and 2015, each simply titled with Roman numerals after their self-titled debut. Their music drew attention for its direct approach, though some found their lyrics confrontational.
