Archive material and source history
A Reason to Breathe formed in California in 2002, with Shane Gavin on vocals, Kyle Crace on drums, and Chris Chandler on bass. They put out their self-titled debut album the following year. Gavin DeGraw was also part of the early lineup on keyboards, but he left in 2004.
Their second album, 'Forever', came out in 2005. Around that time, there were some plagiarism allegations connected to the record. They kept making music for a while after that, releasing 'Countdown' in 2007 and 'Light' in 2011.
One of their songs, 'Never Say Forever', seemed to connect with people more than most. It's the kind of track that still gets mentioned when their name comes up. The band announced they were done in 2014.
