Archive material and source history
A Silent Day formed in Lisbon in 2004 as a quartet with João Bettencourt on vocals and guitar, Luís Sousa on drums, André Santos on bass, and Miguel Abreu handling guitar and keyboards. Their first album, 'From Here to Somewhere,' came out in 2006, followed by 'Songs for Tomorrow' in 2009. That second record got them some wider attention for its post-rock sound.
They put out 'Cansei' in 2012, with the title track becoming a notable piece in their catalog. The song 'Escurecer' and 'Pensamentos que Transbordam' are also among their top tracks. The band released 'The House of Rust' in 2016 and a self-titled album in 2021.
In 2017, bassist André Santos left the group. The remaining members continued working together afterward.
