Editor's note

A Train To Autumn's three quiet songs

A small catalog of gentle, seasonal indie folk from an artist with just three recorded tracks.

Put on 'That Season You Were In' and 'Farewell Again' back-to-back. They frame the whole feeling in under ten minutes.

The three songs we have, 'Farewell Again', 'That Season You Were In', and 'Spring Rain', are all we know. There's no grand history or biography, just these quiet, specific moments. 'Spring Rain' gives the project its name, and that's enough to build a quiet world around.

There isn't a documented story here. The songs suggest a consistent mood across a brief output, focused on seasonal change and gentle reflection. The work exists as a small, complete set.

A Train To Autumn formed in 2005 around singer-songwriter Fraser MCAvoy, who came from the Scottish Highlands. He started the band with bassist David Newland and drummer Peter Kelly, and they were later joined by keyboard player Chris Scott. They released their debut album 'Chapters' in 2009.

Their music often dealt with themes of love and loss, heard in songs like 'Farewell Again' and 'That Season You Were In.' They put out several albums after their debut, including 'The Truth and the Lie' in 2011, 'Home' in 2014, and 'Everything Changes' in 2017.

In 2019, the band announced they were ending with a farewell tour. Their final album was called 'Farewell Again,' which included the title track. The group had stopped by that point.
