Their early work like 'GodWeenSatan: The Oneness' from 0 helped them build a cult following with offbeat lyrics and melodies.
Ween's 1996 album '12 Golden Country Greats' featured the song 'Jean,' which became their breakthrough single. Freeman's vocals on that track, along with its cryptic lyrics about lost love, gave the band wider recognition. They continued releasing albums through the 2000s, including 'White Pepper' in 2000 and 'Quebec' in 2003.
Beyond Freeman and Gene Ween, the band's core members included Mickey Melchiondo on bass and Claude Coleman Jr. on drums. Freeman's vocal style and songwriting with Ween have influenced other musicians in alternative rock circles.
