Abalone Dots formed in the Pacific Northwest in 2009 as a duo with Sean Tollefson and Marina Tadic. Tollefson handles vocals, guitar, and songwriting, while Tadic adds texture with keyboards, violin, and percussion. They released their first album, 'Fernowl Night,' in 2014, which includes the song of the same name that became one of their better-known tracks.
Their music tends toward ambient and folk textures with an experimental edge. Later albums like 'Labyrinth of Dreams' from 2018 and 'Aetherea' from 2021 continued in this vein. Some of their songs, including 'Golden Wish' and 'Third Leg Blues,' have appeared in television soundtracks like 'The OA' and the documentary series 'Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
