Abdallah formed in France in the early 2000s with Mathieu Lemonnier on vocals, Pierre-Émile Chedid on guitar, Vincent Taeger on drums, and Pascal Colomb on bass. They released their first album in 2005, which included the song 'Ave Pirata' that became their breakthrough single.
Their music has an atmospheric quality that draws from alternative rock and folk, with Lemonnier's vocals often described as ethereal. They've cited Nick Drake, Radiohead, and David Bowie as influences, though their sound remains their own.
They followed 'Ave Pirata' with albums like 'Deux Mille Ans' in 2007 and 'Le Vertige des Choses' in 2010. Other songs in their catalog include 'Vai Dá Certo' and 'Désolé'.
Their most recent album was 'Le Dernier Homme' in 2018.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
