Abhijeet

Abhijeet Bhattacharya, known simply as Abhijeet, started singing for regional films in the late 1980s. He came from a musical family in Mumbai, and his voice had a certain mellifluous quality that caught attention. Things shifted in 1992 when he recorded 'Mr. Lova Lova' for the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. That song became a national hit and pushed him into the spotlight.

His discography grew to include thousands of songs across Indian languages. You can hear his style in tracks like 'Tota Mere Tota' and 'Main Tujhse Aise Miloon', which are straightforward romantic numbers. He worked with composers like Nadeem-Shravan and Anu Malik, lending his voice to many film soundtracks through the 1990s and early 2000s.

Abhijeet's career wasn't smooth. He faced criticism in the early 2000s for remarks about cricketers, and his outspoken nature led to public disputes with other artists and media. A legal issue with composer Nadeem Saifi also surfaced. These controversies affected his public image for a time.

He kept performing with a band that included musicians like Sumit on guitar and Rajeev on bass. Songs like 'Ae Nazneen Suno Na' and 'Hum To Deewane Huay Yaar' remained in his setlists. While his output slowed compared to his peak years, he continued to record and perform live shows.
