An Arizona band that builds bleak moods through repetition and heavy atmosphere.
For a good sense of their approach, try 'Into the Ashes' or 'The Departure'. They're both pretty representative of that slow, heavy atmosphere they work with.
They've carved out a specific corner of black metal that favors atmosphere over speed. Songs like 'Into the Ashes' and 'The Departure' show how they use drawn-out passages and minimal shifts to hold a mood. Their 2012 video for 'The Accuser' being pulled from YouTube also briefly put them in a different kind of spotlight.
Formed in Arizona around 2005, they released their first album 'In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns' in 2008. Later records like 'Becoming' and 'The Accuser' kept the same general palette, with Ken Sorceron handling most of the writing and recording.
