Abracadabra

Abracadabra formed in Madrid in the late 1980s, with Juan Carlos Rodríguez as frontman alongside guitarists Miguel Ángel Collado and Pablo Gómez, bassist José Antonio Álvarez, and drummer Javier Martínez. Their debut album in 1991 included the song 'Ayúdame a olvidar,' which became a hit in Spain, Mexico, and Argentina.

That track, along with others like 'Quédate' and 'En Realidad,' helped define their sound, a straightforward mix of pop and rock with some Latin touches. Rodríguez's vocals carried their material, which often dealt with love and relationships in plain Spanish.

They followed up with albums like 'Máscara,' which had singles such as 'No me pidas más.' The band's lyrics sometimes drew attention, like with 'No me ames,' which featured a female vocalist and was noted for its perspective.

Abracadabra's music, particularly 'Ayúdame a olvidar,' remains familiar in Spanish-speaking pop circles, a reminder of their early-90s presence rather than a grand statement about legacy.
