A 1990s Brazilian group that mixed samba, funk, and MPB into hits like "Impar Ou Par."
For their vibe, start with "Impar Ou Par" and "Dia de Sorte." That's the sound they built a name on.
They came out of Rio in the early '90s with a sound that felt like the city itself, samba rhythms, funk bass, and MPB melodies all tangled together. "Impar Ou Par" was the breakout, a major hit in Brazil from their 1996 debut. Even when their lyrics got criticized as suggestive, they said it was just Rio talking.
The original lineup with André Santos on vocals put out four albums between 1996 and 2002. Santos left in 2002, and other founding members drifted away in the years after.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
