Abscesso formed in São Paulo in 1987, playing death metal when the style was still finding its feet in Brazil. They worked with what they had, building a following in the underground without much early recognition outside of it.
Their second album, 'Tormenting Holy Flesh,' got them noticed for reasons beyond the music. That kind of reaction tended to define how people saw them for a while.
They put out records like 'Abscesso,' 'Vomiting in Church,' and '10 Dias' in 1995. The band's lineup shifted over time, but founding members Oscar Dines on vocals and Leandro Jorge on guitar have been constants.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
