Absence of the Sun formed in Sweden in the early 2000s with John Franzon on vocals and guitars, Jonas Lindstrand on guitars, Erik Andreasson on bass, and Hannes Wallin on drums. They started as a melodic death metal band, releasing their self-titled debut album in 2004.
Their song 'Blood of the Innocents' drew some criticism for its graphic lyrics about war, but the band stood by it. They've put out several albums since, including 'Black Seas of Infinity' in 2006 and 'Inversion' in 2022. Franzon has been the only constant member through lineup changes.
