Absentia Lunae formed in Prague in 1999, with founding members Veronika Lukášová on vocals, Petr Štěpán on guitar, and Martin Adam on bass. Their debut album 'Incuria' came out in 2002, followed by records like 'Dies Irae' in 2004, 'Blissful' in 2006, and 'Final Winter' in 2008.
Their songs include 'Died Story Manifesto' and 'Manipulated Statues of Flesh', which carry the kind of heavy, atmospheric sound they developed. Drummer Jan Kadlec joined in 2002, and keyboardist Michal Hospodka later added more texture to their music.
In 2007, the band faced a legal dispute that could have stopped them, but they kept going. Their work draws from gothic rock and industrial metal, with Lukášová's vocals and Štěpán's guitar creating a distinct, shadowy feel.
