ABWH

ABWH was a progressive rock group formed in the late 1980s by four former members of Yes: vocalist Jon Anderson, drummer Bill Bruford, keyboardist Rick Wakeman, and guitarist Steve Howe. The band's name came from their surnames. They formed after Yes had splintered, with these musicians wanting to continue working together on the kind of elaborate, melodic material they were known for.

They released just one studio album together, the self-titled 'ABWH' in 1989. It included songs like 'Brother Of Mine' and 'Birthright.' The project was complicated from the start by legal issues surrounding the use of the Yes name, which the other faction of the band still controlled. This meant ABWH couldn't officially tour or promote themselves as Yes, even though they were playing music from that catalog, including pieces like 'Roundabout' and 'And You And I.'

After the album and a subsequent live record, the members eventually reconciled with their former bandmates and rejoined a reunited Yes lineup in the early 1990s. That effectively ended the ABWH project. Their sole album remains a specific chapter for fans interested in that particular configuration of musicians during that period.
