Abysmalia

Abysmalia formed in the Czech Republic in 2003, playing a style of atmospheric black metal that favored guttural vocals and heavy, oppressive textures. Their debut album 'The Antediluvian Chronicles' came out in 2006, followed by 'An Epitome of Emptiness' in 2009. That second album, which shares its name with one of their most recognized songs, helped define their sound for listeners drawn to darker, more introspective metal.

Later records like 'Daemonocentric' (2012) and 'Thy Punishment' (2017) continued in a similar vein, with tracks such as 'Breach of Integrity (Argumentum ad Baculum)' and 'Iniquity' showcasing their preference for bleak, weighty atmospheres. The band's lineup has included Vrashith Velnias on vocals, Endymion on guitar, Myrkvir on drums, and Tormentor on bass.

Their lyrics often touch on themes of despair and emptiness, which has occasionally drawn criticism, but for their audience, that unflinching approach is part of what gives the music its character. They've remained a consistent presence in underground extreme metal, less concerned with broad appeal than with maintaining their particular vision.
