Accelerator

Accelerator came together in London during the late 1990s, with Anya Petrova on vocals, Ethan James on guitar and keyboards, and Darius Khan on drums. They were interested in mixing electronic sounds with rock music, which was a fairly common idea at the time, but they found a particular audience with it.

Their debut single 'Final Journey' came out in 2001. It had a driving electronic rhythm and Petrova's distinct vocal style, and it became their most recognizable track. Other songs from that period, like 'Freak Of Nature' and 'Loneliness,' followed a similar pattern of blending synthetic textures with guitar-driven energy.

They released four studio albums. Their lyrics sometimes addressed social themes, which led to some radio stations avoiding certain songs. The band's straightforward combination of genres drew both listeners and some criticism from purists on either side, but they kept working within that space for several years.
