Acid Ghost

Acid Ghost formed in Dallas around 2010, with Matthew Washburn on vocals and guitar. The band eventually included guitarist John Teel, bassist Will McCoy, and drummer Sam Kinsey. They put out their first album, 'Volumetric,' in 2013, followed by 'Projections' and then 'The Love That Does Not Exist' in 2017. Their 2020 album is called 'Devotion.'

Their songs like 'Hide My Face,' 'All Alone,' and 'I Don't Need You' have a hazy, reflective quality that draws from shoegaze and post-punk. The music tends to be atmospheric and inward-looking, with Washburn's vocals often sitting low in the mix.

They've kept a fairly steady presence without much fanfare, releasing albums every few years and maintaining a sound that's consistent from 'Volumetric' through to 'Devotion.' It's the kind of music that works in headphones late at night, built on washes of guitar and steady, patient rhythms.
