ACM MC started in São Paulo in the late 1990s, a hip-hop group with rappers Xará and DJ Mike and producer P.MC. Their name stands for 'A Cifra Mais Que Um Código Musical,' which roughly means the cipher is more than just a musical code. They broke through in 2001 with the single 'Essa É a Questão,' a track that caught on for its direct lyrics and beat.
In 2003, Xará was arrested on drug charges, which put a strain on the band. They kept going, though, and put out albums like 'Volume 3: A Vida Falou Mais Alto' in 2004 and 'Som da Rua' in 2009. Later on, Junior MC joined as a rapper in 2009, and Leandro Kumagai has been a touring bassist since 2015. Another song of theirs, 'VEM,' also shows up in their catalog.
