Acrassicauda formed in Amman, Jordan around 1999, when childhood friends Yasmeen Sulieman, Samer Mikhail, and Baha' Suleiman started playing together. They were drawn to heavy metal but wanted to incorporate elements from their own background, which led to some local skepticism about mixing those sounds.
Their debut album 'Gilgamesh' came out in 2003, followed by 'Valley of Shadows' in 2006 and 'A'amal' in 2009. The song 'Garden of Stones' became one of their better-known tracks, along with others like 'Massacre' and 'Message From Baghdad'.
They used traditional Arabic instruments and melodies within a metal framework, which gave their music a particular texture.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
