Action! was a four-piece band from London that released three albums in the early 1980s. Their debut album 'Reaction' came out in 1981 and included the single of the same name. They followed it with 'In Motion' in 1982 and 'Power Cut' in 1983.
Their song 'Reaction' became something of an anthem for the band, with its driving guitar work and direct vocal delivery. Other tracks like 'Wana' and '100.000 Volt' showed their preference for energetic, guitar-forward arrangements.
At one point they faced some legal issues over their name being similar to another band called The Action. Their song 'Red Sky' reportedly drew some attention for its lyrics about nuclear war.
They had a fairly brief run as a recording act, but their three albums captured a particular moment in London's post-punk and new wave scenes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
