Actos 2 formed in São Paulo in 1991 with five members: Ziza Fernandes, Fábio Lessa, Fernandinho, André Valadão, and Jozyanne. They were young musicians who wanted to make Christian music together. Their song 'Muito vão subir' became a breakout hit for them, one of those gospel tracks that people kept returning to.
Some religious communities initially resisted their sound, finding it unconventional or too secular for their tastes. The band kept going anyway, building a following with songs like 'Ao Pé do Monte' and 'Treme o Céu'. They recorded over a dozen albums across their career, mostly anthems and ballads aimed at Brazilian church audiences.
Ziza Fernandes sang lead, with Jozyanne on harmonies. Fábio Lessa played guitar and wrote arrangements, Fernandinho handled keyboards and songwriting, and André Valadão was on drums. Their music didn't reinvent gospel, but it found a space where it connected, simple, earnest, and sung in Portuguese.
