Acústico Novo Tempo formed in São Paulo in 1997, with Fábio Almeida, Edson Santanna, and Ney Gonçalves as founding members. They started playing in small churches and community centers, working through the usual early struggles of a new band. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2001 and found an audience, leading to more recordings like 'Tudo de Novo' in 2004 and 'Novo Dia' in 2015.
Their songs like 'Não Desanimamos' and 'Volto Pra Te Agradecer' have straightforward, hopeful lyrics set to acoustic arrangements. In 2005, some religious groups criticized their use of a secular drum kit, but the band kept playing their way. They've continued performing and recording since, maintaining a steady presence in Brazilian Christian music without much fuss about it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
