Adama Roots formed in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in 1996, with founding members Basile "Bass" Dally and Patrick "Pat" Akpa. They started playing at local festivals and street performances before releasing their debut album "Tabaski" in 2003. Their 2005 follow-up "Adouman" helped establish them as a popular act in Africa.
In 2010, they released the single "Monte Fuji," which became one of their most recognizable songs. Their catalog includes tracks like "Consequências da Vida," "Espada de Marte, Escudo de Vênus," and "Metamorfose." Over time, their sound incorporated elements beyond traditional African rhythms, drawing from reggae, soul, and funk.
The band toured internationally, performing in Europe and North America. Their lineup included drummer Yves "Yvy" Kossoko, percussionist Guy-Baptiste "G.B." Yaméogo, and backing vocalist Delphine "Del" Kaboré. They released several albums including "Le Jour Où Tout a Basculé" in 2009 and "Revolution" in 2014.
