Adapter formed in London in 1994, with Adam Scott on vocals and guitar, Jonathan Pearce on bass, and Mark Richardson on drums. Their sound pulled from alternative rock with some electronic and ambient touches.
In 1996, they released "Adeosu," a song that caught attention with its ethereal melodies and Scott's haunting vocal delivery. It became their most recognizable track, alongside "Flowers Of Romance."
Pearce left the band in 2000, replaced by Dave Bush. The lineup shifted over time with other musicians coming and going. They kept recording, though some critics found their work overly melancholic.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
