Adelso Freire came out of Salvador, Bahia, and put out his first album, 'Deixe a Dor Entrar,' in 1982. The title track was a ballad that caught on nationally. His music draws from samba, bossa nova, and other Brazilian styles.
A few years later, in 1988, he released 'Só o Amor Pode Mudar,' which became one of his most recognized songs. It got translated into other languages and found listeners outside Brazil. Other songs like 'Reaprender' and 'Ninguém Me Amou Assim' are part of his catalog.
He's worked with musicians like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso over time. His band has included Saulo Brandão on drums and Luiz Carlos Maldonado on bass. He's put out more than twenty albums, including 'Canções e Poemas' in 1997 and 'Alma Brasileira' in 2015.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
