Adelson e Adones were a Brazilian forró duo from Petrolina in Pernambuco. They started making music together in the early 1980s, with Adelson Araújo on vocals and accordion and Adones Pereira on vocals and zabumba. Their sound worked within the traditional forró framework, drawing on baião and xote rhythms.
Their most recognizable song is "Igrejinha do Sertão," which came out in 1986. The duo defended it as a reflection of life in the rural Northeast.
They put out several albums through the 1980s and early 1990s, including A Ferro e Fogo in 1984 and Forró do Pajeú in 1992. Their music became a regular feature at traditional festivals in Brazil.
