Adem was a British alternative rock band that formed in 1997, with Mark Greenwood as the frontman. Their debut album 'Homesongs' came out in 1999, featuring the song 'Crashlander' which became one of their better-known tracks. They released four more albums over the next decade or so: 'Insomniac Village' in 2001, 'Love and Other Planets' in 2005, 'Rubble' in 2009, and 'Silent K' in 2012.
Their music had a quiet, atmospheric quality with lyrics that often touched on themes of loss and searching. Songs like 'Everything You Need' and 'Launch Yourself' carried that same introspective mood. The lineup saw some changes over time, with members like guitarist Richard Taylor, bassist Nick James, and drummer Lee Allmark appearing in different configurations.
In 2012, Greenwood announced the band would go on indefinite hiatus. They never quite broke through to a wide commercial audience, but their records found listeners drawn to that particular blend of melancholy and melody.
