Adoration

Adoration formed in the early 2000s around Wolfgang Riechmann, who had classical training but wanted to move beyond traditional composition. The group's sound drew from Gregorian chant and industrial music, creating something both somber and experimental. Their 2006 album 'Finsterlicht' gave them a breakthrough, with the title track becoming particularly well-known.

That album, along with others like 'In Schatten Gehüllt' and 'Lichtgestalt', established their approach: dark, atmospheric electronic music with themes of introspection. Songs like 'Nothing' and 'Prayer For Help' continued in that vein, blending keyboards, programming, and percussion from members Thomas Rainer and Simon Oberender.

Their work sometimes drew criticism for its focus on darkness and death, but they kept making music through the 2000s and into the early 2010s. Later albums like 'Dunkelwerk' and 'Requiem' showed them experimenting further, though always within that shadowy electronic framework they'd built.
