Adrianne Lenker grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she started playing piano as a child. She formed Big Thief in 2015 with Buck Meek and James Krivchenia, and the band's atmospheric folk sound quickly found an audience.
While still part of Big Thief, Lenker began releasing solo work. Her 2018 album 'Abysskiss' was followed by 2019's 'Songs and Instrumentals,' which included the track 'Anything.' That song, with its gentle guitar and quiet vocals, became one of her most recognizable solo pieces.
Lenker's writing often feels close and personal, whether in Big Thief or on her own. Songs like 'Indiana' and 'Not A Lot, Just Forever' share that quality of direct, unadorned observation.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
