Aero 26 formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s around Rafael Almeida, Rodrigo Berton, and Felipe Bozza. They started playing experimental rock that mixed in electronic and Brazilian popular music elements, which didn't immediately find an easy audience. Their debut album 'Escolhas' came out in 2006, with the title track becoming one of their most recognizable songs.
Their lyrics often turned inward or touched on social themes, which sometimes drew strong reactions. Songs like 'Feche Os Olhos' and 'Seguir em Frente' carried that introspective quality. They kept recording through the 2000s and 2010s, putting out albums like 'Daqui pra Frente', 'Horizonte', and 'O Que o Tempo Leva'.
Live shows became a particular strength for them, known for their energy. Almeida's vocals and songwriting shaped their sound, with Berton on bass and keyboards and Bozza on drums providing the foundation. They built a following in Brazil's alternative rock scene without smoothing out their rougher edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
