Aeroplanitaliani formed in Bologna in 1997, with Davide Reviati on vocals and guitar, Marco Salvadori on bass, and Marco Nicoli on drums. They released their breakout single 'Bella' in 2001, which found an audience in Italy and helped establish them.
Their music mixed folk, pop, and rock with Italian folk influences and singer-songwriter touches, sometimes recalling Fabrizio De André. Songs like 'Canzone D'amore' and 'Immagine' carried themes of love and loss in straightforward arrangements.
Salvadori left the band in 2005, and Reviati and Nicoli continued, putting out albums like 'Le cose che contano' in 2006 and 'Niente è per sempre' in 2009. These later records leaned a bit more experimental and inward.
