They gave hard rock a loose, bluesy swagger on 'Toys in the Attic' and 'Rocks' in the mid-70s. When drug problems and lineup changes almost ended them, they got clean and returned with hits like 'Love In An Elevator'. Their original lineup stayed together through most of it, which is rare for a band that went through so much.
Formed in Boston in 1970, they hit their stride with mid-70s albums that defined their sound. After nearly breaking up in the late 70s, Perry and Whitford returned in 1984, leading to a comeback that lasted through the 90s and beyond.
