Aerosound System formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1985, playing punk, dub, and funk in the city's underground clubs. Their music connected with local youth who were frustrated with the political climate at the time. The band's lyrics often targeted politicians and social problems, which sometimes got them in trouble with authorities.
Led by frontman Zé Lobo, they released albums like "Lei Seca" in 1988 and "Os Intocáveis" in 1996. Their song "Chutar (As Bolas do Rinoceronte)" became particularly well-known for its satirical take on violence and tolerance. The track sparked conversations around the country about human rights issues.
Other songs in their catalog include "Hell Primário," "Moonshine," and "Prólogo." Over time, different musicians passed through the group, with guitarists Edinho and Diego Cebalho, bassist Paulinho Bragatto, and drummer Alessandro Leite all playing with the band at various points. Zé Lobo remained the consistent presence throughout.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
