Africa Unite formed in Kingston in the late 1970s with Bunny Wailer, who had been part of Bob Marley and the Wailers, on vocals. Their debut album 'Inna De Yard' came out in 1981, and they followed it with records like 'Chant Down Babylon' in 1983 and 'Blackheart Man' in 1986.
Their songs often dealt with social and political themes. 'Vero,' from that first album, was one of their better-known tracks. The band's lineup included bassist Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, drummer Carlton Barrett, and keyboardist Tyrone Downie.
They faced various internal and financial difficulties over time. The group went through changes in later years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
