Agatha Allegra formed in 2003 around vocalist Vanessa Almeida and guitarist Débora Almeida, with Thiago Carvalho on bass, Rafael Martinelli on keyboards, and Paulo Sousa on drums. Their first album came out in 2005, followed by "Além do Horizonte" in 2007 and "Equilíbrio" in 2010.
Their song "A Menina Que Sonhava" became particularly well-known. Other tracks like "Antes do Sol Acordar" and "Café, Cigarro e Cachaça" show the band's range across folk-rock and more introspective material.
Early in their career, they faced some plagiarism accusations, but kept working. Their music developed from the dreamy style of their debut toward the more experimental sounds heard on later records.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
