Aggro Santos was a Brazilian funk band that formed in 2002 around Rafael Santos and Thiago Carvalho. They came up in Rio de Janeiro's funk scene in the early 2000s, known for songs with catchy beats and suggestive lyrics. Their 2003 single 'Candy' became a breakout hit in Brazil, though its music video and stage shows drew criticism from conservative groups.
They released several albums between 2004 and 2008, including 'Aggro Santos' and 'Nação Funk'. Other tracks like 'Like u Like' and 'Rhythm N Flow' followed a similar pattern of upbeat production and risqué themes. The band's lineup included Allan Lisboa on guitar, Vinicius de Souza on bass, and Leonardo Guimarães on drums alongside the founding duo.
As the funk scene changed, Aggro Santos' popularity faded. They disbanded in 2013 after more than a decade of making music that was both popular and polarizing in Brazil.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
