Aguarráz formed in 1998 with Bruno Gouveia on vocals, Davi Moraes on guitar, Diego Moraes on drums, and Fernando Nunes on bass. They started playing bars and small venues, slowly building a following. Their name comes from Tupi-Guarani and refers to a serpent that represents both danger and transformation.
Their 2003 album 'Terra Firme' brought them national attention, largely thanks to the single 'O Mundo Gira Ao Seu Redor.' That song became something of an anthem in Brazil, though its lyrics criticizing societal superficiality drew some criticism from conservative groups. The band denied being overtly political.
They've released several albums since, including 'Acústico MTV' in 2006, 'Lado B' in 2008, and 'Cada Um na Sua' in 2012. Other songs like 'Bem Mais Leve' and 'Coração de Maria' have also found their way onto Brazilian radio.
