Ahava was a band from São Paulo, Brazil, whose name means 'love' in Hebrew. They released their debut album 'A Uma Só Voz' in 2007, which included the title track that became a hit. The group consisted of Daniel Gonzaga on lead vocals and guitar, Felipe Coden on backing vocals and bass, and Ricardo Vignatti on backing vocals and drums.
Their music often dealt with themes of love and social issues, as heard in songs like 'É Proibido Pensar' and 'Debaixo do Sol'. In 2010, they put out 'Além do Céu', a more personal record, followed by 'Sintonia' in 2014, which shifted toward pop and rock sounds while keeping their harmonies.
The band didn't back down from the song's message, which led to pushback from certain fans and a dip in their popularity. Personal struggles among members, including issues with addiction and mental health, also affected the group over time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
