Aidoneus formed in 2007 as a quartet with members named Avernus on vocals, Thanatos on guitar, Eris on bass, and Charon on drums. They released their first EP, 'Descent into Darkness,' in 2008, followed by the album 'Persephone in the Garden' in 2010. The band dissolved in 2020.
Their music sometimes drew criticism for its dark themes, but they kept making it anyway. The song 'Persephone in the Garden' is probably what most people remember them for.
They put out a compilation called 'Songs from the Underworld' in 2013 and another album, 'Aether,' in 2017. That was their last release before they called it quits.
