Air Raid

Air Raid came together in the early 1980s British heavy metal scene with John Morgan on vocals, Steve Harris on guitar, Dave Lloyd on bass, and Nigel Carter on drums. Their debut album 'Night of the Axe' arrived in 1982, and the title track became something of an anthem with its heavy riffs and Morgan's vocals. The band's lyrics often drew from fantasy themes and Tolkien's writings, dealing with battles and quests.

They followed up with albums like 'Power of the Blade' in 1983 and 'The Frozen Princess' in 1984. Their sound evolved through the decade, incorporating elements of speed metal and progressive rock on records such as 'Sound of Thunder' in 1986. Songs like 'The Fire Within' and 'A Blade In The Dark' showed their range within the heavy metal framework.

By the late 1980s, Air Raid's style shifted toward a more melodic approach on albums like 'Screaming for Vengeance' and 'Vision of the Fallen', though they kept much of their earlier intensity. The band faced lineup changes and the usual challenges that come with staying active through shifting musical trends.
