A.I.R.E.S.V. Unidos de Mesquita is a samba band from Mesquita, Rio de Janeiro. They perform traditional Samba Enredo, the narrative samba style associated with Brazilian carnival parades. Their 2021 samba-enredo "Rendeiras - a Tradição Bordada No Sertão" paid tribute to lacemaking traditions in Brazil's sertão, the arid northeastern backcountry.
Their 2022 samba-enredo was "Flores Vívidas Pelo Caminho, Festa Em Cores e Infindos Amores. Nos Guia, La Catr." The band has faced some criticism for blending traditional samba rhythms with contemporary sounds, though they've continued working within the samba tradition.
According to their existing biography, the group includes frontman Ricardo Aguiar on vocals, guitarist Pedro Garcia, bassist André Luiz, and percussionist Diego Naz. They released a self-titled debut album in 2015 and followed it with 2019's "Do Amor e da Poesia," which featured original songs about love and loss.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
