Airumã

Airumã formed in Salvador, Bahia, with a name from a Tupian language meaning 'the place where the sun rises.' The group included Sidnei Lobo on vocals and guitar, Adauto Faria on bass, João Victor on keyboards, and Ricardo Barreto on drums. They put out their first album in 1996.

Their 1999 album 'Em Busca do Sol' gave them a national audience. The title track became their most recognized song, a ballad that seemed to capture something about searching for light. Another song people remember is 'Sonho Sem Dor.'

Their music pulled from Brazilian folk, pop, and rock, often with a spiritual or introspective feel. They released several more albums, including 'Canto das Águas' in 2002 and 'Nação Zumbi' in 2006, before putting out 'Uma Nova Era' in 2011.
