Airut formed in Yerevan in 1998 around vocalist and guitarist Vahan Artsruni, bassist Hayk Baghdasaryan, and drummer Karlen Harutyunyan. Their first album came out in 2000, followed by others like 'Mekan' in 2003, 'Ari Tun' in 2006, and 'Bay' in 2010.
Songs like 'Armo' and 'Helmiä' became well-known in Armenia. The band's music sometimes mixed rock with Armenian melodic touches, and their lyrics often dealt with personal and social themes.
