Airwaves formed in Los Angeles in the late 1990s with Josey Scott on vocals and guitar, Matt Johnson on guitar, Tony Shalhoub on bass, and Taylor Hawkins on drums. Their debut album came out in 2000 and included the song 'So Hard Livin' Without You,' which got a lot of radio play around that time.
Hawkins left the band not long after that first album, and Jake Kiszka took over on drums. In 2003, guitarist Matt Johnson was arrested on drug charges, which was a rough patch for the group. They kept putting out records through the 2000s, like 'Horizon' in 2003 and 'Moments' in 2006.
Most people remember them for 'So Hard Livin' Without You.' It's the track that stuck around, even as the lineup changed and they worked through some trouble.
