Akecocke

Akecocke formed in Marseille in the late 1990s around Samir Bodouin on vocals, Stéphane Paut on guitar, and Jérôme Schmidt on drums. They put out their first album, 'Razakanal,' in 2001. A few years later, their third album, 'The Siren's Song,' brought them wider notice.

Their 2012 album 'Bathykolpian Avatar' is a sprawling, 70-minute piece that pulls from black metal, ambient textures, and electronic sounds. Bodouin's vocals shift between guttural growls and ethereal whispers on tracks like 'Becoming The Adversary' and 'Goddess Flesh.'

They've kept releasing music, with albums like 'The Isle of Heretics' in 2016 and 'Resonant Frequencies' in 2023. The band's lineup for live performances has included François Demerliac on bass and Julien Fehlmann on synthesizers.
